Ministry of Education Announces Selection of 37 Top Global Universities in Japan

On September 26, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan announced its selection of 37 universities for the Top Global University Project. The project was initiated to support sweeping reforms at universities to enhance their global competitiveness, including administrative reorganization to meet global standards, hiring of foreign faculty and staff, admission of foreign students, and instilling global awareness in Japanese students. The chosen universities are shown below.

These universities are tasked with attracting outstanding talent from around the world to Japan through their long-standing excellence in research and advanced levels of higher education. They will also send Japanese students abroad to build a global network and enhance Japan’s global competitiveness.
